Cape Kri is a reef dive site in Raja Ampat, Indonesia, renowned for holding the record of 283 species (and growing, with some accounts citing over 370) recorded in a single dive, making it widely regarded as one of the most biodiverse dive sites on the planet. The site sits at the tip of a cape and features a steep slope running from the shallows down to around 36 m, with the shallowest point at roughly 3–5 m. The corner of the cape generates the strongest current, while the slope beyond it opens into extensive coral fields of hard and soft corals, with sandy bottom at depth around 38 m hosting schools of sweetlips.
Marine life at Cape Kri is exceptionally varied across all parts of the reef. Swarms of fusiliers, damsels, surgeons, and anthias fill the coral gardens, while dogtooth tuna, barracuda, Spanish mackerel, giant trevallies, and jacks patrol more actively. Grey reef, blacktip reef, and whitetip reef sharks are frequently seen, and manta rays and eagle rays pass through at the cape's tip. Big groupers, Napoleon wrasse, and bumphead parrotfish are regularly encountered, and closer inspection of sea fans can reveal pygmy seahorses, nudibranchs, and banded pipefish.
Entry is by boat, with a travel time of around 20 minutes to the site. The cape's tip produces strong currents that give the site much of its character, though current can range from mild to strong depending on conditions. Strong currents are particularly associated with full or new moon phases and high tides. The site is rated intermediate to advanced, and the strong current at the corner means even experienced divers should be prepared. The site is also noted as snorkel-friendly at certain times.
