Crocker Reef is an expansive reef tract located in the Florida Keys, running from shallow inshore areas out to deeper structure, with depths ranging from 30 to 90 feet (roughly 9 to 27 metres). The site encompasses a variety of terrain including spur-and-groove formations and dramatic valleys that drop off into deep sand, giving divers a wide range of environments to explore within a single reef system.
The reef's southern edge features Crocker Wall, a spur-and-groove sea slope stretching more than 400 feet, descending from 30 feet (9 m) at the mounding coral heads down to nearly 80 feet (24 m) at the base, with barrel sponges consistent throughout. The varied structure — from shallow coral heads to deep sand valleys — means the site suits divers of different experience levels, and the layout is considered easily navigable.
Marine life at Crocker Reef is diverse and reliable across the depth range. Sea turtles and stingrays are frequently described as a constant presence, and the site is noted as a highway for both. Nurse sharks and moray eels rest under ledges, spotted eagle rays and green morays appear along the wall sections, and juvenile angelfish and colorful butterflyfish are seen throughout. Larger fish are consistently reported along the deeper portions of the reef.
Access is by boat, and diving is open water. The verified maximum depth is 27.4 metres (90 feet), and the site is rated suitable for beginners, with visibility described as great.
