Davis Bay Wall is a shore dive on St. Croix. The entry is only 20 yards from the staging area, with a sandy patch of about 100 yards to walk into the water, and the wall begins 75 yards due north of there. The top of the wall is at 25 feet (7.6 m) and drops at 45 degrees to 180 feet (55 m), then goes vertical for thousands of feet.
To the west there are many fissures in the coral wall, and to the east a coral structure runs for hundreds of yards. Sea fans over 5 feet tall dot the wall. Technical divers find a cavern at 280 feet (85 m) and a chimney with a skylight at 240 feet (73 m).
Reef sharks, sea turtles, schooling tangs, wrasse and triggerfish, stingrays, jawfish, flounder, lionfish, drum fish, parrotfish, damselfish and tilefish are common. Eagle rays, seahorses, mantas and hammerhead sharks are possible. The conditions are generally calm.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
