Explosion is a boat dive off Crete, Greece. The boat anchors on the east side, which is always protected from the wind. The site is a drop-off into open blue water, with a maximum depth of 30 m.
The dive starts at the anchor line and goes down to 5 m. Schools of small fish live around big rocks along this stretch. The depth then increases to 30 m quickly. Between 14 and 20 m there is a rock shaped like an elephant, as big as a truck.
The drop-off into the open blue is the draw, and the water is crystal clear from the start of the dive. Groupers, snappers, morays and bluefin trevally live here. The attractions are the depth, the blue water and the visibility, which is often more than 35 m. There is no current.
