Gladden Spit is a dive site off the coast of Stann Creek, southern Belize, close to Silk Caye and inside a marine reserve. It lies about 26 nautical miles (roughly 48 km) from Placencia, a boat ride of around an hour and a half each way.
The site is best known for whale sharks, which feed here in the spring months. Dive operators give the season as March to June, or April to June, with trips timed around the full moon. Whale sharks reach about 9 metres in length. Sightings are not guaranteed, and in some recent years trips have gone out without seeing any.
Diving here is rated advanced, and the dives are made in deeper water. Surface intervals are commonly spent at nearby Silk Caye.
