The Jim Atria is a Dutch-built freighter wreck off Fort Lauderdale, Florida, lying at 95 to 132 feet (29 to 40 m). It is an advanced dive, and strong currents are possible. The wreck is dived on a down line.
The ship was built in 1961 as the Poinciana and capsized and sank in the Miami River. It was raised, towed offshore and sunk as an artificial reef on 23 September 1987. It rested on its port side until Hurricane Andrew righted it in 1996. It is 227 feet (69 m) long and 34 feet (10 m) wide, with the bow pointing north and a list to port. The mast rises to about 75 feet (23 m) and the wheelhouse sits at 95 feet (29 m).
Soft corals cover the wreck, so bring a light to see the colours. Barracuda and grouper circle it, looking for a baitfish meal, and the cargo hold is full of glass sweepers and squirrelfish.
