Las Eras is a shore dive on Tenerife, entered from a sheltered bay with a black sand beach. It suits open water divers through to advanced divers, depending on how deep you go.
A shallow reef just outside the bay sits in 5 to 14 metres. From around 12 metres a tunnel system leads through swim-throughs and caves to a steep wall that drops past 30 metres and reaches 35 for trained divers. Submerged statues are scattered around, and a small Buddha statue sits on a shelf on the wall.
Octopus and eels hide in the nooks and crannies by day. Barracuda and trumpetfish are regularly seen on the shallow reef, and rays and occasional angel sharks are most often seen at the wall.
Water temperature runs 18 to 24 degrees Celsius. Tidal changes cause currents and undertow, and the current can be strong on the return trip.
