Le Polynesien is a French cruise liner sunk during World War I, now lying as a protected historical wreck in Maltese waters. The wreck is classified as an Underwater Cultural Heritage (UCHU) site, and a special permit from Heritage Malta is required to dive it; the boat and dive centre must be licensed accordingly.
The wreck rests between 48 and 65 metres, making it a site exclusively for technical divers. Visibility is great, and the site is diveable year-round, with water temperature dropping to its coldest around January–February at 15 °C and warming through the other seasons.
Access is by boat, with a shotline placed directly on the wreck so divers can explore independently with their teammate rather than following a guide. A drifting decompression station is typically used to manage the required decompression stops at this depth.
