Lighthouse Bommies is a dive site at Lady Elliot Island, on Australia's southern Great Barrier Reef, where the terrain consists of bommies rising from sandy expanses on the leeward side of the island.
The site is a reliable location for leopard sharks, which are typically found resting on the sand between the bommies and will tolerate a slow, patient approach. Two, and possibly three, individuals have been observed during a single dive here. Manta rays pass through the site, sweeping low across the sandy expanses and occasionally grazing the sand with their cephalic lobes before rising to clear a bommie and heading back into open water; encounters are described as not uncommon. Bull rays are regularly seen on the sandy areas, and eagle rays are sighted at the site as well.
Entry is by boat, launched from the beach on the sheltered leeward side of the island near the lighthouse. Depending on the tide, divers may need to walk across a designated section of reef flat with full gear before boarding.
