Los Morros is a rocky reef dive site located along the Los Cabos Corridor, between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. It is classified as a corridor dive and sees relatively little traffic compared to the bay sites. The reef is primarily accessible from November through March, when swell is low enough to allow safe diving.
The terrain consists of various rock piles and rocky reef structure, with the deepest section bottoming out at around 22 m (70 ft). The relief creates habitat for a range of species sheltering among and between the rocks. Strong currents run through the site, which contributes both to the rich marine life and to the site's advanced rating.
Marine life at Los Morros includes schools of Big Eye Trevallies, Snappers, yellow tail snappers, Panamic Pork Fish, Grunts, and Balloonfish, along with Groupers, Turtles, Sting Rays, Mobula Rays, and Garden eels. Several eel species are present — Green eels, Zebra eels, Fine Spotted eels, and Jewel eels. Reef sharks and hammerhead sharks have also been spotted here, along with tangs, parrotfish, hawkfish, butterflyfish, and pufferfish.
The site is reached by boat and is recommended for advanced divers only, given the strong currents. Checking conditions before the dive is advisable, as current strength can vary.
