Lucky Rock is a large pinnacle rising near the western edge of North Malé Atoll, reached by a 20-minute boat ride. The structure is notable for the schools of fish and reef life it concentrates, and a small tunnel passes through the rock, offering a swim-through section where divers can explore its interior.
The pinnacle draws huge schools of fusiliers, snappers, and red-tooth triggerfish that fill the water column from the moment of descent. Inside the tunnel, sweetlips, soldierfish, and groupers shelter in the shadows. Curious batfish drift around the outer structure, and careful searching among the reef reveals the well-camouflaged leaffish. Manta rays and whitetip, silvertip, and grey reef sharks are also recorded at the site.
