Mak Cantik, whose name means "beautiful mother" in Malay, is an underwater seamount close to Chek Isa in the waters of Redang, sitting in depths of 12–18 metres (with a verified maximum of 13.5 m). It is characterised by a large coral garden of hard and soft corals, with notably attractive coral anemone gardens that some divers prefer over the nearby Chek Isa site.
Fish life at Mak Cantik is abundant and varied, with schooling yellowtail barracudas, snappers, and batfish a regular feature, alongside rays, puffers, damselfish, wrasses, parrotfish, angelfish, butterflyfish, and black-tip reef sharks. Looking out into open water from the reef edge can reward divers with sightings of whitetip sharks and larger rays. At the nearby Tanjung Mak Cantik shore area, baby and occasional adult black-tip sharks are regularly encountered, and Jenkins whiprays are often found under rocks and table coral.
Mild to moderate currents are sometimes present at the seamount; when they run, the chance of spotting pelagics in the open water increases. The site is rated intermediate in difficulty, with generally good visibility. Choppy water on the open-sea side is a noted hazard.
The Tanjung Mak Cantik shore area in Pasir Panjang is accessible as a beach dive, suitable for day and night dives with depths no more than 15 metres, and is also used for discovery dives and snorkelling.
