Mataora Wreck is a wreck dive just off the reef to the north of the island, lying in 18 metres of water, with the dive spanning 12 to 20 metres. It is suitable for all divers.
The Mataora was a Tongan registered cargo vessel of 395 hp, 44.25 m long and 299 gross tonnes, bought in December 1990. She started her last voyage to the seabed a couple of days later.
The wreck is a good place to search for lionfish, including the rarer oscillated variety.
