Money Bar is a shallow reef dive accessed directly from shore on Cozumel, entered by walking in from the beach in front of the bar of the same name. Divers descend into a reef tongue at depths between 6 and 12 metres, making it one of the more accessible sites on the island and well suited to beginners and photographers looking for extended bottom time.
The reef terrain consists of ledges and coral structure that shelter a range of macro subjects. Arrow crabs, juvenile drumfish, and the endemic splendid toadfish are the signature finds here, tucked under ledges along the reef. Seahorses have also been reported, though rarely. Bottom times of 60 minutes or more are typical at these depths.
Water temperature runs 26–28°C, and the site carries no meaningful current, which allows relaxed, unhurried diving. The shallow profile means deco considerations are minimal regardless of dive order in the day, making it a practical choice as either a first or a later dive. A 3 mm wetsuit or shorty is appropriate for most divers, with a 5 mm recommended for those who run cold over multiple dives.
Entry and exit are from the shore, with a saltwater swim back after the dive. No boat is required. The site pairs naturally with a surface interval at the bar before an afternoon dive or a boat trip to nearby Paradise Reef. Photographers should bring a 60 mm or 100 mm macro lens to make the most of the resident species.
