Ningaloo Reef is a coral reef of more than 260 kilometres in length, found off Exmouth in Western Australia. It holds over 500 species of fish and 300 species of coral.
Whale sharks gather here during their migration season, which runs from March to July. Humpback whales and manta rays can also be met at certain times of the year.
Snorkelling on the reef is done from a boat rather than from the shore, over water of 5 metres and more, and the surface can be choppy.
