Punta de la Mona is a rocky headland at one end of La Herradura on Granada's coast, with a wall that drops sharply into deep water. Divers who can handle the strong currents here are rewarded, and the same currents give the wall an orange hue from orange coral.
The wall can be dived down to 40 m, where barracuda, sunfish and large groupers are seen. Shallower, the Cantaros spot at Punta de la Mona reaches about 22 m and is good for groupers, dentex and seahorses. Because current control is essential, the wall is a site for advanced certified divers.
