Stairway, known locally as Coral Stairway, is a wall dive where constant water movement has driven the growth of plate corals that step upward from depth, creating the distinctive staircase formation that gives the site its name.
The terrain is a wall with medium current, which has directly shaped the coral growth here — the persistent water flow encouraging plate corals to colonise and climb in layered formations from the deeper sections of the wall.
Caribbean reef sharks are a regular presence at the site, and hawksbill turtles are commonly seen making their way up the coral staircase structure.
