Baixa do Lobo is a rocky platform with sloping walls off Ponta de São Lourenço on Madeira, dived by boat from Caniçal. Depths run from 14 to 40 metres and the dive is graded advanced. The platform reaches 40 m, and the dive can be held to 30 m.
This is an exposed site, where wind, current and safe pick up decide whether a dive goes ahead, and a current can run over the platform. Madeira allows diving all year, visibility is great and the water sits around 24.7°C. Tunas, mackerels, groupers, barracudas, stingrays, eagle rays and moray eels are found here, and divers have also reported frogfish, sea horses, manta rays, turtles and a monk seal.
