The Canyons is a drift dive site in Puerto Galera, Philippines, defined by three dramatic canyon formations swept by strong currents in the open water off the Sabang area.
The site runs from 22 to 32 metres depth, with divers typically descending to 28–32 metres. The terrain features canyon walls covered in soft coral and gorgonians, and a Spanish anchor sits at around 30 metres marking one of the deeper sections.
Strong currents are the defining condition here, and the site is best dived on an incoming tide when the flow concentrates fish activity. Tuna, barracuda, and jackfish cruise overhead in the current, and on good days thresher sharks and hammerheads make appearances.
This is a boat dive and a drift dive; divers descend and let the current carry them through the canyons. Drift diving experience and solid buoyancy control are essential prerequisites—the site is rated advanced and is not suited to newly certified divers.
