Clarkes Beach is a tranquil bay at Byron Bay, just east of Main Beach and within walking distance of the town centre. Entry is easy from the sand, and the shallow water and gentle waves suit snorkelling.
Small reefs and rocky outcrops lie a short swim from shore, with tropical fish around them and the occasional turtle passing through, which makes the bay a relaxed place for a first swim over a reef.
