About this site
Crescent Reef is a wall and drift dive in Gabach Channel, Yap, Micronesia, with depths of 13 to 27 m. Visibility is 15 to 30 m or more and current is 0 to 3 km/h.
The dive is usually done as a drift, either in or out of the channel depending on the tide. It is a little deeper than most dives in Yap. The terrain is dramatic drop-offs, walls and formations with sunlit holes.
Marine life is a draw. A large school of black bar barracuda shows up almost every time, along with schools of striped snappers, black snappers, fusiliers, bumphead parrotfish and big groupers. Huge Napoleon wrasses are seen, and schooling scalloped hammerhead sharks have been seen on a regular basis.
