About this site

D'Wall is a dive near the coastline of Mataking, reached easily by speedboat. Dynamite fishing damaged the first 10 m, but below that the site is colourful. Depths run from 10 to 40 m, with a generally gentle to mild current and water of 25 to 29 C.

Soft and hard corals, feather stars, sea whips and gorgonian fans grow in every size and colour. In the sandy sections, nudibranchs hide in nooks and crannies and jawfish in holes in the sand. Parrotfish, bannerfish, Moorish idols and butterflyfish live here. For many divers the highlight is a well-camouflaged frogfish on the spongy coral patches, and a giant black frogfish has been known to sit there waiting for prey.
