About this site

Double D is a wall dive at French Cay, about 40 minutes by boat south of Providenciales, Turks and Caicos. It lies just offshore from the deserted bird sanctuary on the cay. The name comes from two large pinnacles, or mounds, rising from the ocean floor. Current is strong.

The wall here is a fairly gradual slope, with a profuse carpet of coral along its length. Fast-moving water feeds the soft corals, which shelter schools of mahogany snapper, schoolmasters, French grunts and smooth trunkfish.

Large numbers of jacks, black durgons and groupers live around the pinnacles and the boat mooring.
