Drop Off, called Baung Penyu (turtle neck) in Balinese, is a boat dive on the Padang Bai coast of Bali, just next to Blue Lagoon. A gentle sandy slope turns into a coral-covered wall, running from about 5 to 30 m. Visibility is often 10 to 20 m, water 24 to 29°C, and conditions are usually calm with a light drift possible. It suits all levels.
The dive usually starts on the northern side, over a sandy and soft coral bottom rich in alcyonarians, cleaning stations and anemones, where macro hunters scan the sandy patches for seahorses, shrimps and nudibranchs. The slope steepens toward the wall, which carries feather stars in every colour, sponges and hard corals. Frogfish, moray eels and other sheltering fish live here, with the occasional larger visitor.
