El Meco is a reef off Cancún, built up over the remains of old Spanish shipwrecks. Cannons, spades and coins from the 15th century were once found here, which gives the reef an unusual history.
Angelfish, butterflyfish and damselfish live on the reef in the clear waters off Cancún. It is a beginner site with good visibility, reaching around 22 metres at its deepest.
