Encalladora is the island just beyond the tip of Cap de Creus, in the most exposed part of the landscape, where the open sea feels close in every direction.
Scuba diving is now prohibited here. The marine management plan introduced in 2025 bans diving inside the Encalladora Strict Marine Natural Reserve, and the site is tightly protected.
Older dive descriptions may still refer broadly to the island, but they should never be treated as permission to enter the protected zone. Any proposed position around the wider area needs to be checked against the current boundaries and regulations.
