Fish Bowl is a dive site on the south side of Kauai, Hawaii, known for erosional sea caves and dramatic underwater landscapes. They formed along Kauai's pre-Ice Age coastline, when the area was still above water, and are now submerged.
Depths run from about 45 to 70 feet (14 to 21 m). The caves and overhangs make good habitat, and there is a huge sink hole that is fun to dive into.
It is one of the fishiest sites on the south side. Black triggerfish, blue stripe snapper and pennant butterflyfish form huge schools, and the rare reticulated butterflyfish can be found here. White tip reef sharks and turtles are regulars around the caves. On one dive with exceptionally clear visibility, an octopus reared up and spread its tentacles toward the surface in a display of intimidation.
Drifting: when the current is strong enough, divers can drift from Turtle Bluffs through Fish Bowl and on to General Store, or the reverse, depending on the direction of the current.
