About this site
Fish Head is a medium-sized pinnacle in the Maldives, set within a protected marine area. It is rated intermediate, with a depth range of 5 to 30 m, and can be dived year-round. It is considered one of the most prominent dive sites in the Maldives.
Terrace-like overhangs run around the pinnacle, and divers can hook on at these to watch the action. Brown algae covers parts of the reef and feeds turtles and other grazers.
Thousands of fusiliers dart around the site, chased by large jackfish and dogtooth tuna. Grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks, eagle rays and Napoleon wrasse are all seen, along with hawksbill turtles, octopus and jackfish. Nudibranchs and mantis shrimps give plenty of macro subjects, so the site suits both macro and wide-angle photography.
