Green Rock is a dive site located near Koh Nang Yuan, off Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand, formed by large granite boulders that have calved from the island to create an extensive maze of swim-throughs, tunnels, narrow passages, canyons, and caverns across a broad area of seafloor.
The site reaches a shallowest point of around 4–5 metres at the main pinnacle and drops to a maximum of 28 metres, with bold, dramatic topography defined by the granite boulder formations and the overhead environments they create.
Marine life at Green Rock includes giant moray eels, blue-spotted stingrays, triggerfish, batfish, nudibranchs, turtles, sea snakes, and trevally, with nocturnal creatures also found sheltering inside the caves and swim-throughs.
The site is best suited to divers with experience, with an Advanced Open Water certification recommended to explore all aspects of the dive; currents can at times be strong, the swim-throughs are narrow, and triggerfish become territorial during their breeding season (April–May), adding an additional hazard to be aware of. The ocean-facing side of the site is exposed.
