Half Moon Wall is a wall dive off the southern side of Half Moon Caye, on the eastern edge of Lighthouse Reef atoll in Belize. It lies about 6 miles south of the Great Blue Hole. Dives here are typically multi-level, to a maximum of around 18 metres, with roughly 45 minutes of bottom time.
Along a section of wall about 1.5 to 2.5 kilometres long, a high ridge of reef is cut by crevasses that in places reach about 45 metres deep. Mountainous star coral, large sponges and soft corals cover the reef. The top edge of the reef averages 11 to 12 metres. On the inside of the ridge, a vertical drop leads to white sand. The outer face of the wall falls away to more than 900 metres. Small caves and grassy open areas are also found along the wall.
Caribbean reef sharks, eagle rays, green turtles and groupers are regularly seen here, and barracuda patrol the reef. The sand on the inside of the reef holds garden eels, red hermit crabs, peacock flounders, blue parrotfish and southern rays. Swimming through the cuts from the inside to the outside of the wall has brought encounters with tarpon, and divers have occasionally reported a solitary manta ray. Eels are also commonly spotted along the wall, along with toadfish, razorfish and yellowtail snappers.
The site lies within the Half Moon Caye Natural Monument, and boats generally anchor in the grassy open areas along the wall.
