House Reef

The House Reef is a shallow coral reef site located near the jetty on Mataking Island, Sabah, in the Celebes Sea. It is primarily known as a macro diving destination and sits close enough to the resort to be accessible with minimal travel.

The reef reaches a maximum depth of 10 m, with light current and generally great visibility throughout the site. Water temperature stays between 26 and 30 °C year-round, and the best visibility runs from March to October; conditions can soften toward mid-November through mid-February, which also brings more cloud and rain.

The House Reef is well regarded for its macro life, with gobies, mandarin fish, ghost pipefish, and nudibranchs among the species found here, along with pelagic fish in the water column. The gentle depth and calm conditions make it suitable for complete beginners and uncertified divers exploring the shallows.
