Marsa Egla is a natural bay and shore dive about 11 km north of Marsa Alam on Egypt's Red Sea coast, inside a marine park. Entry is from the beach, and the north and south reefs are separated by a seagrass bed. Depth runs from 5 to 22 metres, and the reef suits beginners, professionals and snorkellers alike, with both sides an easy swim from shore.
Turtles and rays graze the seagrass, and dugong are seen there often, along with green turtles. The bay is rich in soft and hard corals and holds octopus, giant moray eel, Malabar grouper, crocodilefish, scorpionfish and stingray.
