Monkey Shoals is an atoll of coral about 1 mile square, lying directly between the sister islands of St Kitts and Nevis. The reef structure sits approximately three miles offshore, and the distance from land brings excellent visibility and increased fish life.
Depths run from 12 to 25 metres (40 to 70 feet). Divers have reported brain, fan and pillar corals, angelfish, parrotfish, butterflyfish, a sea turtle and stingrays on the reef. Currents and wind can be a concern, and large Atlantic swells can leave the site blown out, which at times prevents diving here.
