Navy Barges is a wreck dive site off St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, consisting of several barges that were originally used as floating quarters during World War II and have since been reclaimed by the sea to form an artificial reef system. The site sits at 25–45 feet (around 8–13 metres) at its deepest, making it a comfortable, shallow dive with plenty of bottom time.
The wrecks' exposed metal "ribs" arch upward like the skeleton of a large animal, creating a framework of structural complexity across the bottom. This skeletal architecture provides ledges, recesses, and sheltered spaces that support dense growth of coral and a range of resident marine life.
The site is well known as a productive habitat for octopuses, moray eels, and resting nurse sharks, while the rib formations regularly attract schooling fish. It is rated novice or beginner level, suiting divers of limited experience, and is widely regarded as one of the stronger night-dive options in the area, when its nocturnal residents are most active.
