Njao Island lies off the western side of Pemba Island in Tanzania, part of the Zanzibar Archipelago in the Indian Ocean. The Pinnacle dive site here is typically reached by boat from operators based near Mkoani or other settlements on Pemba's west coast, and as a pinnacle it rises from the surrounding seabed as an isolated formation. Divers have reported a varied mix of small reef life around it, including Allard's anemonefish, skunk anemonefish, Indian dascyllus, crown squirrelfish, regal angelfish, and Indian redfin butterflyfish, along with leaf scorpionfish, black longspine urchin, and Graeffe's sea cucumber tucked into the structure.
