About this site
Puntilla, also called La Puntilla, is a wall dive on Sosua Bay on the north coast of the Dominican Republic, just a 30-second boat ride from the beach. The depth runs from about 6 to 20 m (20 to 65 ft), the current is light, and the site suits all levels.
Big rocks have fallen from the wall and left swim-throughs and passages between them. You can find three sunken cannons from an old galleon here. Abundant coral and many reef fish live on the wall, and barracuda and rays like the rocky surge close to the wall.
The resident frogfish and seahorses are highlights, and moray eels are common.
