Redbait Reef is Plettenberg Bay's house reef, reached easily from the shore, and it works as an introduction to the area and its conditions. Depths are 6 to 9 metres.
Juvenile reef fish, cuttlefish and shy sharks are regularly seen among colourful anemones, urchins and sponges. The shallow water lets plenty of natural light through, which helps photography, and the site suits beginners.
