Sam Laem, meaning "triangle" in Thai, is a pinnacle dive site in the Chumphon area where three large rock pillars have formed underwater in the shape of a triangle, reaching a maximum depth of 30 metres with the shallowest point at around 10 metres.
The rocky pinnacle terrain drops to 30 metres, and visibility typically reaches around 20 metres, making it a genuinely deep dive suited to advanced divers — it is a common choice for PADI Advanced Open Water courses and Deep Specialty dives on the PADI Master Scuba Diver track.
Marine life at Sam Laem includes barracuda, trevally, groupers, and whale sharks, with whale shark sightings recorded at the site across multiple dates between May and August.
The site dives best from February through October, with conditions outside this window generally considered unsuitable.
