About this site
Sankisan Maru is a smaller freighter wreck in Truk Lagoon, and one of the shallower wrecks there, with depths from about 6 to 30.5 metres (20 to 100 feet). It is popular with underwater photographers for its colourful coral growth.
The deck is covered in soft corals and sponges and carries several large deck guns. The holds contain military supplies, including munitions and vehicles, now encrusted with marine life, and the coral-covered bow has large anchor chains. Nudibranchs, shrimp and frogfish are often spotted among the corals, and the shallow depth also draws a range of reef fish and larger pelagic species.
