Santa Rosa is a dive site at the south end of the Talima dive spot on Olango Island, Cebu, Philippines, about 10 minutes by boat from Mactan. A sloped plateau starts at around 5 m (15 ft) and runs down to 18 m (60 ft), where a wall drops to about 50 m (165 ft).
The top of the wall is sandy with scattered corals, around which reef fish shoal. It works as a fish nursery, with many schools of larvae and fish fry, and juvenile fish shelter in the holes between the coral blocks, with bigger predators waiting to ambush them. That makes it a well-known macro photography site, full of critters and nudibranchs. Frogfish, black ribbon eel, peacock mantis shrimp, juvenile barramundi cod and harlequin sweetlips are also recorded.
The site suits all levels, from Open Water divers on the slope above the wall to experienced divers who prefer the bigger fish. Nitrox and a camera are both worth bringing.
