Snapshot Reef is a shallow coral reef dive site located at San Salvador, offering colorful coral gardens at depths of 30 to 60 feet (9 to 18 metres). The terrain is characterized by vibrant hard and soft corals arranged in impressive coral structures, making it one of the better shallow sites in the area.
The reef holds an abundance of marine life despite its modest depth, with nurse sharks, stingrays, occasional Caribbean reef sharks, and sea turtles regularly encountered alongside schools of tropical fish and Nassau groupers.
Exceptional visibility makes this site particularly well suited to underwater photographers looking for macro shots, as well as beginners and divers seeking longer, more relaxed dives or a second dive after deeper wall sites. It is also used for certification training.
