South Button is a small island in the Andaman Islands, north of Ritchie's Archipelago, basically an overgrown pinnacle sticking out of the rocks, with vertical columns of coral-covered rock and a few overhangs and strange-shaped formations. The trip out takes about an hour and a half, and depth runs from 6 to 25 metres.
The western side drops along a small wall to 25 metres. The eastern side has a coral garden in less than 12 metres of water. The water is very clear, and the site is also good for snorkelling.
The wall holds barracuda, bigeye and bluefin trevally, surgeonfish, schooling snapper, angelfish and Napoleon wrasse, along with batfish, crocodilefish, nudibranchs, moray eels, turtles and octopuses. Manta rays, devil rays and leopard sharks are occasional visitors.
