Stingray World is a lagoon dive inside the Moorea reef, French Polynesia, on a sand-bottomed area just inside the Taotoi Pass. It is opposite a beachside resort and is reached by dinghy or dive boat from a single mooring.
Next to the mooring it is wading depth, and the bottom is sand that soon deepens. Depths run from 20 to 60 ft (6 to 18 m).
Tahitian stingrays and spotted eagle rays are the draw, and a stingray can be seen scavenging for food on the sand. Three-spot dascyllus and anemonefish live in the tentacles of sea anemones.
Visibility was about 40 ft (12 m), poor by local standards but good enough. The current can be occasionally strong and runs outward, as lagoon water is pulled out through the Taotoi Pass, so it pays to cross the face of the site and avoid the strongest flow. Snorkelling is possible, though visibility is poor.
