Artificial Reef is a muck dive off Mabul, Malaysia, over a large sandy area covered in man-made structures. It is a place to slow right down and look closely.
Crustaceans, cephalopods and pipefish are abundant, a frogfish or two is likely, and colourful nudibranchs sit on every structure. Maximum depth is about 18 metres with no current and the water around 29°C, so it suits beginners.
Confirmed by our research team, reported by independent divers, or observed nearby via iNaturalist — each entry is labelled with its source.
