Balena wreck, also known as MS Balena, lies on the Hurghada coast, close to the town and less than 10 minutes away by boat. The ship was built in Norway in 1952 and sunk by fire in 2001.
The wreck reaches about 9 metres at its deepest, with a typical depth of around 3 metres. It is rated beginner and has little or no current. Part of the wreck breaks the surface, and boat traffic is a hazard in the area.
