Cat Island is a reef dive site located near the Daymaniyat Protected Area off the coast of Oman, a short boat ride of roughly one minute from nearby dive sites, and around 20 to 30 minutes from Seeb Marina. It sits within a group of sites that includes Bandar Khairan and Jissah Island to the south.
The reef reaches a maximum depth of 30 m and suits beginner divers. Conditions are generally calm, with little to no current, as tides have minimal effect in the area. The site is a popular choice for both day dives and night dives, the latter conducted with a single tank and often featuring a black light that highlights colours and details on the reef.
Night dives at Cat Island are known for glowing plankton and bioluminescence, along with crabs, lobsters, shrimps, and soft corals. During the day, the reef holds hard and soft corals alongside tropical fish including parrotfish, trumpetfish, pufferfish, butterflyfish, and angelfish. Moray eels, stingrays, rays, nudibranchs, turtles, and blacktip sharks are also recorded here. Whale sharks visit the area, with their season running roughly June through September.
Entry is by boat. The site is accessible as an optional third dive on a standard two-tank day trip, or as a dedicated night dive with a 5:30 p.m. check-in and an in-water return to the marina by approximately 7:30 p.m. Water temperature ranges between 19 and 32°C depending on season, with the calmest and clearest conditions typically occurring November through February.
