Cathedral is the most well-known dive site in Mauritius, located in the waters off Flic-en-Flac and reaching a maximum depth of 28 metres. The site is a combination of caves and a chimney duct (drop-off), giving it the character of an immersive grotto rather than a simple reef dive.
The terrain is defined by interconnected cave passages and a vertical chimney feature, making the overall structure distinctive among the dive sites in the area. The Swiss Drop, a separate but adjacent drop-off zone, surrounds the Cathedral and offers a shallower alternative at a maximum of 23 metres for less experienced divers.
Because of its cave and chimney structure and depth of 28 metres, Cathedral is accessible to experienced divers only — advanced certification or equivalent experience is required to dive here safely.
