Cinnamon Bay is a beach site on St. John in the US Virgin Islands, with multiple entry points and a range of underwater landscapes. It is less crowded than Trunk Bay and has several reef sections to explore, with a gradual increase in depth from about 5 to 30 feet (1.5 to 9 m) and more beyond, so it suits beginners and intermediates. Free beach access and camping facilities are nearby.
Sea turtles are regular sightings, with schools of blue tangs and yellowtail snappers over the reef, stingrays in the sandy areas between the coral heads, and larger fish in the deeper sections. Sea fans grow on the reef, and water temperature runs from 78 to 84°F (26 to 29°C). The best conditions, with the calmest seas and best visibility, come from December to April, and early mornings are the smoothest.
