Citrus Ridge is a reef dive site in the Yangeffo area of Raja Ampat, located near Arborek village alongside the site known as Mayhem.
The reef is home to remarkable macro subjects. Three resident Hippocampus denise pygmy seahorses — each around 16 mm — cling to gorgonian fans and are well-documented enough that their exact locations on the fans are known. Hippocampus bargibanti pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs are also found here, alongside silvertip sharks.
Peak visibility at sites in this region runs 25–30 metres from November through March, with the characteristic deep-blue water shifting to turquoise over shallow reef tops. Current at Citrus Ridge is light, and entry is timed to coincide with an incoming tide. The bottom type is reef.
When approaching the pygmy seahorses, slow movement is essential — touching the gorgonian fan is off-limits, and strobes should be positioned for backlight to illuminate the animals' translucent bodies. The seahorses are small enough that even experienced macro photographers typically need a guide to locate them.
