Cogon, also called Cogon Point, is a dive site on Apo Island in Negros Oriental, Philippines, reached by boat from the eastern side of the island — roughly half an hour by banca. The entry is from the boat at Cogon Point, where a briefing is conducted before descent.
The terrain starts as a gently sloping reef covered in healthy soft corals and sponges, then gradually tapers into a more pronounced wall, with a maximum depth of 18 metres. The slope-to-wall profile and strong currents make for an engaging drift dive along the structure.
The site holds a wide range of marine life: sea snakes, moray eels, grouper, tomato clownfish, starfish, parrotfish, pufferfish, and large schools of jackfish, bannerfish, and batfish are common sightings. Mantas, reef sharks, and turtles are also possible, along with other pelagic species for the fortunate.
Cogon is subject to very strong currents and is considered suitable only for experienced divers. Visibility is generally great, and the site is diveable year-round.
